As Switzerland is not part of the EU, it still has its own monetary system and the official currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc (CHF).
Switzerland is well known for its numerous lakes, in particular the famous Lake Geneva located on the north side of the Swiss Alps which is one of the largest lakes in Western Europe. With stunning villages and fantastic ski resorts, it is no wonder that Switzerland is becoming one of the popular destinations in Europe to visit, let alone one to relocate to.
Switzerland has in the region of 7.5 million inhabitants and is one of the richest and safest countries in the world.

As with many other countries in Europe, is it common for most people in Switzerland to rent property, in particular within the major cities such as Geneva, Bern and Zurich. This of course has caused a shortage in rental properties and resulted in a rise in rental prices. Although rental prices because of this factor can be high, Switzerland’s high average salaries and fantastic standard of living does offset the huge expense in the cost of living.
British citizens do not require a visa to enter Switzerland but you will need to provide proof of identity and a work permit or employment contract if you intend to relocate to Switzerland. As Switzerland is not a member of the EU or European Economic Area, moving to Switzerland is not as simple as moving to other countries in Europe such as Spain, France or Germany. If you do not plan to work once your relocate, you will have to provide evidence of adequate financial resources to support yourself while living in Switzerland. For new customers relocating to Switzerland, one key thing to note as part of your relocation, is that anyone living or working in Switzerland are obliged to take out Healthcare Insurance. Healthcare Insurance is compulsory and has to be arranged within the first 3 months of arriving in the country.

- Copy of House Lease agreement
- Proof of change of residency to Switzerland (Copy of Swiss Residency Permit / attestation from Swiss Local Town Hall)
